Event: American Psychological Association’s Annual Conference
Event Date: August 6, 2017
Location: Washington, DC
Dr. David Gage presented a talk entitled “Siblings in Conflict: Tied at the Hip in the Family Business” at the world’s largest annual conference of psychologists. He talked to psychologists from around the world about how siblings jointly inherit family assets and suddenly find themselves not just siblings, but also business partners. As “Accidental Partners,” they may experience role confusion, sibling rivalry, fairness battles, and conflicting levels of ambition, competency and motivation. Their sibling challenges become challenges for the entire family, including their parents and their children.
